“Time Transitions” is an intervention at the entrance of the Old Al Jubail Vegetable Market in Sharjah that reconsiders how contemporary ruins can be inhabited and adapted. Restoring the lost visual and climatic connection between the passively cooled historic market and the waterfront, the project responds to the construction of a new air-conditioned market across the street. Inspired by regional wind towers, the scaffolding structure symbolises the return of fresh air to an architecture recently abandoned and now reoccupied. The easily assembled and dismantled installation embodies impermanence, reuse, and regeneration, inviting reflection on cultural memory and the reintegration of disused urban spaces into the city’s fabric.
